“PART ONE OF” IS A WOMENSWEAR FINE ART COLLECTION CONSISTING OF A TEAM OF 20+ COLLABORATORS.
THIS COLLECTION IS A COMMENTARY ON THE FASHION INDUSTRY THAT EXPLORES THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE FEMALE BODY AND GARMENT.
THE COLLECTION WAS SHOWN THROUGH AN EXHIBITION FORMAT, INCORPORATING SCENT & SOUND.
The “Part One Of” exhibition took place on the 25th of May 2019. Aided by Bennett Goergen, I played a 3.5 hour set incorporating real-time sample playback and manipulation (through eurorack) of interviews with all the collaborators. In addition to this, Peyton and I tried to focus on keeping the soundscape interactive and not just act as background music. I placed a contact microphone in the middle of the landing space and audience members slowly started to interact with it (triggering sequences and events on my modular synth). I was adamant we kept the music subtle and made sure all the sounds we were playing were slowly evolving, in order to allow guests to slowly discover more about the pieces as they lost track of the passage of time once entering the space.
